Entries close Friday 25th July 2025 – No late entries accepted. 

All classes will be conducted under current DEFRA regulations. 

Judging to commence at 9.30am. 

Exhibitor to remove all bedding before leaving the Show field. 

Trophies will be presented in the livestock Secretaries’ tent after judging. 

Cups to be held for one year only. 

No Grand Parade of sheep.

CONTINENTAL, CROSS BRED, NATIVE SHEEP 

YOUNG HANDLER & PET LAMB

Please note that all sheep classes remain the same as they were for 2024. 

Due to space restrictions, a waiting list will be started when we reach the maximum sheep entries, so please enter early. 

Prize money will remain the same as was for 2024. 

A fourth prize of £4 for classes 1-13, will be awarded in any class with over ten entries. 

A Challenge Cup kindly donated by the late W Craggs awarded to the Champion Continental Sheep from classes 1 to 4. 

A Silver Salver kindly donated by the late Miss E E Brown will be awarded to the Champion Native Cross Bred Sheep from classes 5 to 7.

The Frank Hedley Challenge Cup awarded to the Champion Native Pure Bred Sheep from classes 8 to 13. 

The George Robert Harrison Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the Champion Sheep Young Handler 

Armstrong Richardson Trophy will be awarded to the Champion Pet Lamb 

Tinsley Challenge Cup will be awarded to The Overall Sheep Champion

Award: The Frank Hedley Challenge Cup awarded to the Champion Native Pure Bred Sheep from Classes 8 to 13. 

Judge’s discretion will be used on the day for classification of Native pure bred – rare breed, and Native pure bred – commercial classes.

NATIVE PURE BRED – COMMERCIAL

Class 11 – Native Ram, any age
Class 12 – Native Ewe or Shearling Gimmer
Class 13 – Native Gimmer Lamb
Maximum of two entries per class, per exhibitor

Award: The George Robert Harrison Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the Champion Sheep Young Handler.

Class 14 – Best Sheep Young Handler 8 years and under (to be judged on the handling, knowledge and turnout of handler and animal) 

Class 15 – Best Sheep Young handler 9 years to 14 years (to be judged on handling, knowledge and turnout of handler and animal) 

Class 16 – Best Pet Lamb to be shown by 8 years and under. Lamb not to be shown in any other class and will have to be led. 

Class 17 – Best Pet Lamb to be shown by 9 years to 14 years. Lamb not to be shown in any other class and will have to be led. 

PET LAMBS NOT TO BE SHOWN IN ANY OTHER CLASS AND WILL HAVE TO BE LED
